for years we’ve donated 5% of sales from our eco warrior blend to people doing good things within their communities. the goal has always been to provide support & funds to the wider community & their surrounds…and to hopefully help create some awareness and/or change while we’re at it.

we love that you guys have jumped behind this initiative & were searching for even more ways to contribute. and so, the eco warrior community initiatives fund was born (ewcif for short)! it gave us a tangible way to track our contributions ongoing & report them back to you. in a nutshell, ewcif is about having a positive impact & giving back to the communities we work alongside. we do this through donations to charities, community programs or support for our producing partners at origin.

we’ve got a brand new range of eco warrior merch dropping soon, of which 5% of sales will also be donated & we’ve added a handy popup to the checkout for you to add a personal contribution to your cart if you choose. at the end of each season, we’ll tally our total donation amount & pop the results up on the blog so you can see how your donation has made an impact. you can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter for updates.

streetsmart australia.

this winter, we’re supporting StreetSmart Australia: an organisation supporting the vulnerable people in Aus currently experiencing homelessness or those who are at risk.

StreetSmart believe it‘s a basic human right that everyone should have a safe & secure place to call home. they know ending homelessness will take a whole community response so, through innovative campaigns, they enable & empower those communities to raise vital funds & awareness to bring about change for those experiencing homelessness.

they’re all about keeping it local: seeking out, supporting & partnering with small organisations and projects in the communities where the funds are raised. since they began in 2003 they’ve had a huge impact, distributing over $7.6 million in funds, supporting 714 grassroots organisations, donating more than 25K SleepSafe kits & providing almost 150K SmartMeals!

to learn more about StreetSmart and the impact they’re having, you can head straight to their website.

in addition to donating 5% of sales of all eco warrior products & merch this quarter, we’ve also signed up as a roaster partner for their CafeSmart initiative for the 7th year running, which will be held in Aug – we wrote an in depth post about the CafeSmart program last year, you can read that here.

children's ground.

throughout Feb-May, we teamed up with Children’s Ground: a grassroots organisation led by First Nations people, who are working towards a brighter future for the next generation.

the fundamental difference to the Children’s Ground model and alternative organisations, is their community-led approach. from infants to Elders, they work collaboratively with entire communities who have experienced extreme injustice, inequity & disadvantage.

over a 25-year period they hope to create real & lasting change by focusing on 5 key areas: bi-lingual learning, health, economic wellbeing, culture, and community development. Children’s Ground integrates both First Nations knowledge systems & Western practices into their delivery to ensure the next generation emerges with a strong sense of culture & can thrive in the modern, global world.

the Children’s Ground vision; a world where all children & families live with dignity & are free from economic poverty, is one we wholeheartedly believe in too. to learn more about Children’s Ground and the important work they’re doing, head on over to their website.

the final tallies are in! to read more about our contribution to Children’s Ground & the friends we made along the way, head to the wrap-up here.

orangutan coffee project.

alongside the other initiatives listed here, eco warrior will continue to support the Orangutan Coffee Project.

OCP is a 360 degree project which focuses around two main initiatives. first, helping Sumatran coffee farmers to operate environmentally-friendly coffee plantations, which helps to protect the fragile eco-system. the second, supports the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP) that cares for, protects & rehabilitates injured, orphaned & rescued orangutans and fights against deforestation.
⠀
on top of the price we pay for coffee, we pay an extra $1 premium for every kg of green bean. 50% goes to the farmer for their extra efforts in complying with organic & environmental standards. the other 50% goes to the SOCP, to support their conservation efforts.

we have committed to an ongoing partnership with OCP. you can read more about this program here.
