icymi: we’ve recently launched our eco warrior community initiatives fund (ewcif for short).

for years we’ve donated a portion of eco warrior coffee sales to people doing good things within the community. we wanted a way to be able to ramp it up more & keep you updated on our progress. thus, the eco warrior community initiatives fund was born! in a nutshell, it’s about having a positive impact & giving back to the communities we work alongside. we do this through donations to charities, community programs or support for our producing partners at origin. for more info on ewcif, you can jump on over to the latest blog post.

last quarter we partnered with the incredible team at Children’s Ground: a grassroots organisation led by First Nations people, who are working towards a brighter future for the next generation.

we’re extremely proud to announce we were able to contribute a total of $896.17!

locale x sow coffee project.

firstly, huge thanks to Charlie Wade from Sow Coffee Project who teamed up with us in support of Children’s Ground. Charlie originally started Sow to share the stories of the people he’d met throughout his coffee journey. the blog soon took on a life of its own, gained a huge following & now includes an online store. he’s using this platform to feature great coffees from specialty roasters across the country. more recently, his focus has shifted to those that carry a deeper thread of human connection & give back in meaningful ways.

we’ve known of Charlie through different connections in the Melbourne specialty coffee community. more recently, we’ve gotten to know him & now call him a friend. it’s always really refreshing to meet people who are the real deal & Charlie is just that. he’s authentic, warm & genuinely cares for people and our industry. we love everything about what Charlie has created with Sow & welcomed an opportunity to work together. when we started chatting about our Community Initiatives program, he really wanted to get behind it with Sow.

Charlie featured 2 of our singles through Sow’s online store & very kindly donated $2 from every 250g bag sold.

we also wanted to give a quick shoutout to Andrew & Minna from Healthy Fresh Food Boxes. a fresh grocery delivery business they run out of their shopfront at the Brunswick West Workshop. when they heard about the Locale x Sow x Children’s Ground collab, they were keen to get involved too.

Charlie organised 80 bags of eco warrior to head out in their weekly boxes. Sow donated an additional $1 from each bag bringing their total contribution to an impressive $230 – this amount has been included in our overall tally. it was great to have so many new people to introduce this initiative to & we loved working with these guys to support Children’s Ground this quarter!

but the biggest thanks of all goes to you guys, we absolutely couldn’t do it without you! we appreciate every single person who bought a tin or bag of eco warrior over the past few months! or those who added a donation to their cart at the checkout. the ewcif wouldn’t be possible without all of our wonderful customers who get behind it, so thank you!

missed out but would still like to make a personal contribution to Children’s Ground? we hear now’s the perfect time, right before eofy! or to learn more about the important work they’re doing, head on over to their website here.

this quarter we’re donating to StreetSmart Australia: tackling homelessness in our local communities & supporting the vulnerable Aussies without a place to call home this winter.

help us to give back.

now there’s even more ways you can contribute. as always, we donate 5% of sales from our eco warrior organic blend (all sizes). plus, we’re dropping some awesome new eco warrior merch soon, of which 5% of sales will be included in the fund donation too! look out for the ewcif logo on all included product lines.

we’ve also added a handy popup to the checkout. you can now add personal donations from as little as $1 to your cart. as they say, it’s the little things that add up to make a big difference!

with gratitude, team locale
