joao rainha: brazil
tastes like red grape, almond & peach tea
about me
This delicious new filter, a washed Brazilian from João Rainha, has a refreshing peach tea sweetness and red grape acidity that will have you coming back for more.
We’re excited to welcome this washed catucai (catuai x icatu hybrid) from João Batista Rainha of Dois Irmãos farm. We decided to roast this for filter as it’s unlike the typical Brazilian coffees we’re used to. As a batchy or pour over the sweetness & acidity really shines through.
We sourced this lot direct through FAF Coffees, who we’ve had a solid relationship with for 5+ years. We source some of our core blend origins through FAF each harvest & love to showcase some of the exceptional microlots they send our way.
The farm is located in Rancho Dantas, one of the most westward Mountain peaks in the Espirito Santo region. João is planting coffee together with other crops like manioc root and banana on his farm. However, a big part of his 9 hectare farm is covered with native forest. After the coffee cherries are washed, they’re left to dry on a covered concrete terrace for 15-20 days.
