asman arianto: indonesia
tastes like pear, apricot & tangerine
about me
This Fully Washed coffee from Asman Arianto in Indonesia is bright and refreshing, with a syrupy body, notes of apricot nectar, tangerine, pear and an intense sugarcane sweetness.
Asman Arianto has been living and working in Aceh Tengah since 1998. He founded Ribang Gayo Musara Cooperative to offer competitive prices that help his 350+ member farmers reinvest in their farms and their families.
Indonesia is mostly known for its unique wet-hulled (or Giling Basah) process. Asman and his team have expanded Indonesia’s coffee possibilities, building a wet mill in 2020. This has diversified their processing methods, allowing the co-op to produce Fully Washed, Honey & Natural coffees.
The cherry is handpicked on the member’s farms. Once delivered to the wet mill, it undergoes a rigorous selection process, then it’s pulped using a disc pulper. Beans are wet fermented for 12 hours, then soaked in clean water for 24 hours. Finally, the coffee is dried on raised beds and covered patios.
This coffee also has a direct impact at origin. The current Farmgate Initiative contributes to an organic compost project in Indonesia that will enable farmers to continue successfully farming coffee for years to come.
