being able to have an impact on the communities we work with, both here & abroad is something that’s really important to us.

whether it’s a financial contribution, or helping to implement processes to help communities & their environment thrive, we wanted to do our bit to help create change.

as an ongoing commitment, we decided to contribute 5% of sales from our eco warrior blend to initiatives close to our hearts. to make sure it would have greater impact, we decided to donate three months worth & change the recipient up every quarter. we’ll update this post as we go along so you can see where our dollars (and time) is being spent.

orangutan coffee project.

as well as all of the other initiatives listed here, eco warrior supports the Orangutan Coffee Project ongoing.

OCP is a 360 degree project which focuses around two main initiatives. first, helping Sumatran coffee farmers to operate environmentally-friendly coffee plantations, which helps to protect the fragile eco-system. the second, supports the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP) that cares for, protects & rehabilitates injured, orphaned & rescued orangutans and fights against deforestation.
⠀
on top of the price we pay for coffee, we pay an extra $1 premium per kg of green bean. 50% goes to the farmer for their extra efforts in complying with organic & environmental standards. the other 50% goes to the SOCP, to support their conservation efforts.

we have committed to an ongoing partnership with OCP. you can read more about the program here.

beyond blue.

eco warrior is currently supporting beyond blue. as we make our way out of a pandemic & statewide lockdowns and move into the festive season, we know many people are struggling & doing it tough. we decided to donate 5% of sales from Nov-Jan to this cause.

did you know more than 3 million aussies are living with anxiety or depression? beyond blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.

beyond blue is an Australian mental health and wellbeing support organisation. they provide support programs to address issues related to depression, suicide, anxiety disorders and other related mental illnesses.

the organisation works in partnership with governments, local health services, educational institutions, workplaces, media and community organisations, as well as the general community to raise community awareness about anxiety and depression and reduce the associated stigma.

cafesmart.

cafesmart is an initiative by Streetsmart Australia to unite the coffee community to take action against homelessness. Streetsmart believes everyone should have a safe and secure place to call home. they work to raise funds and awareness to bring about change for people experiencing homelessness. to find out more out cafesmart, we wrote this post.

2020 was our 6th year of being involved with cafesmart, and was possibly the most important one to date, coming together to support the 100,000’s of vulnerable people in Australia who have been hit the hardest by the pandemic.

our favourite part is, donations stay local! all funds raised go to local community organisations helping vulnerable people in the area the donations are made. as well as donating beans to our participating cafes, we donated 5% of eco warrior sales from Aug-Oct to cafesmart.⠀

clean up australia.

Clean Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. started thirty years ago, by an “average Australian bloke” who had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard has now become the nation’s largest community-based environmental event.

we’re pretty passionate about the environment so, this March, our teams in VIC, QLD & WA were out in force cleaning up our hood as part of clean up Australia day 2020!

~ 18.3 million+ Aussies have donated their time as part of clean up Australia activities over the last 30 years.
~ 36 million hours of volunteer time has been donated to clean up activities to benefit our environment.
~ 380,000+ ute loads of rubbish have been removed as part of clean up australia.

if you wanna learn more or donate to this great cause, head to their site.

previous initiatives.

in the past, before eco warrior championed the initiatives, we’ve made contributions to the Yemeni water crisis, wildlife conservation, the bushfire relief fund, and the Queensland royal fire service to name a few. check back here for updates on our progress here.

if you’d like to further support these initiatives, you could hit their sites & make a donation, or head over to the store and buy some eco warrior!
